CHU Sydney team volunteered to ‘Cook for a Cause’ with OZHarvest

At CHU, our team members are offered one day of paid volunteer leave to allow for opportunities for our team to give back through volunteering in the community.

Some of the CHU Sydney Crew took this volunteering opportunity to team up with OzHarvest, and cook over 240 meals for vulnerable communities using rescued food through OzHarvest's Cooking for a Cause program.

Cooking for a Cause is a brilliant program where you learn zero-waste cooking skills while transforming rescued ingredients into gourmet meals to support vulnerable communities.

The team not only learned to cook a variety of meals, including Chicken Saganaki, Potato Gnocchi, Lamb and Coconut Curry, Lentil Pies and Bread and Butter Pudding, but knowing that the ingredients were rescued from ending up in landfill, and that these nourishing meals were donated to people suffering from food vulnerability.

This program has a far-reaching benefit for sustainability, it significantly reduces the environmental footprint of food waste while providing support for vulnerable communities.

We highly recommend OzHarvest Cooking with a Cause program to other organisations looking to build team spirit while giving back to the community.  To find out more about OzHarvest Cooking with a Cause initiative, visit OzHarvest.org
